Browallia americana
Originating from tropical Latin America, it is a tender perennial that has adopted the habit of an annual when cultivated in temperate zones. A modest grower, it reaches a height and width of 1 to 3 feet. The plant presents a bounty of distinct, 2-inch blossoms primarily of a rich blue hue, though purple and white variants exist, all adorned with dark eyes smudged white. Widespread in the tropical Americas below 8,000 feet. Photographed in the department of Quindio, Colombia.
