Brassocattleya Richard Mueller is a primary horticultural hybrid created in cultivation from Brassavola nodosa × Cattleya milleri. Blooms are typically 2–3 inches across with narrow, starry segments and a ruffled lip; color ranges from tangerine to red-orange, often with fine crimson speckling on the lip and inner petals. Many clones release a sweet evening fragrance, a trait inherited from B. nodosa whose flowers are moth-pollinated in the wild. Growers use this cross widely in Cattleya-alliance breeding to transmit saturated orange tones, compact stature, and reliability of bloom. Photographed in Florida.
