Brassia Datacosa ‘Coos Bay’ is a hybrid orchid notable for its elongated, spidery flowers and intricate spotted patterns, bred from species within the Brassia genus, which is native to Central and South America. This hybrid inherits the long, narrow petals and sepals that extend outward like spider legs, a characteristic that has earned the genus the common name “spider orchids.” The pale yellow to greenish background of the blooms is heavily marked with dark brown spots concentrated on the petals, sepals, and throat, creating a striking contrast. Multiple flowers are arranged along a slender, arching inflorescence, allowing the blooms to cascade gracefully. Photographed in Florida.
