Beautiful Purple bougainvillea glabra bracts and a white flower
Bougainvillea glabra

Native to Brazil, Bougainvillea glabra is a vigorous, woody vine widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions as an ornamental plant for its prolific and long-lasting displays of colorful bracts. It is distinguished from other species in the genus by its relatively smooth, glabrous leaves and angled stems, as well as its smaller, thinner bracts, which range in color from magenta and purple to pink, red, orange, or white depending on the cultivar. The true flowers are small, tubular, and white to cream, nestled at the center of the papery bracts. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia and Miami.
