Boquete, Panama
Boquete is a small mountain town located in the western highlands of Panama, in the province of ChiriquĂ. Situated at an elevation of about 1,200 meters (3,900 feet), it lies on the eastern slopes of the BarĂș Volcano, the highest point in Panama. Access to Boquete involves a steep highway climb from the city of David, with the final approach marked by a noticeable drop into the valley where Boquete is nestled. Just before entering the town, travelers pass through a dry, almost semi-arid zone that quickly transitions into the cooler, greener microclimate of Boquete itself.
Boquete is known for its frequent rainbows, especially in the afternoons, due to the areaâs unique blend of mountain mist and sunshine.
The region enjoys a spring-like climate year-round and is famous for its high-quality coffee plantations, scenic hiking trails, and outdoor activities. Nearby attractions include VolcĂĄn BarĂș National Park, the cloud forests of Bajo Mono, the Caldera hot springs, and the scenic drive to the town of VolcĂĄn on the other side of the mountain range.
