Close-up of a Boltonia asteroides flower with narrow, curling white ray florets surrounding a dense yellow central disk
Boltonia asteroides

Native to the central and eastern United States this species typically grows in full sun and tolerates a variety of soil conditions, but thrives in consistently moist environments. Flowering from late summer to early fall, the plant produces numerous daisy-like flower heads with white ray florets and a bright yellow central disk. It can reach heights of 3 to 6 feet, with branching stems that bear an abundance of blooms in favorable conditions. Photographed in Virginia.
