Blakea pauciflora

Native to Costa Rica and Panama, this shrub or small tree can grow on other trees as an epiphyte. In Panama, it has been recorded in cloud forest at about 3,600 to 4,100 feet. The flowers have six white petals, often flushed with pink on the underside, and yellow anthers joined in a ring. The fleshy berries turn red as they mature. Photographed in the Cordillera de Talamanca, Panama.
