Blakea anomala single white flower with rounded petals, a bright yellow star-shaped center, and water droplets on its surface, set against glossy green foliage
Blakea anomala

Native to montane cloud forests of Costa Rica and Panama, Blakea anomala is an evergreen shrub that inhabits humid, high-elevation environments where mist and rainfall are frequent. The plant produces solitary or few-flowered blooms, each with thick, rounded white petals tinged faintly pink at the edges and a prominent yellow, star-shaped corona at the center. The corona surrounds the reproductive structures, giving the flower a distinctive appearance among members of its genus. Photographed in Panama.
