Native to the highlands of Mexico, Central America, and South America, Bidens triplinervia is a perennial herbaceous plant often found in montane grasslands, forest edges, and open slopes, thriving between about 4,000 and 10,000 ft in elevation. It produces upright to sprawling stems with opposite leaves, each leaf typically showing three prominent veins from the base, a characteristic reflected in the species name. The plant’s flower heads feature five broad, golden-yellow ray florets surrounding a tight cluster of yellow to orange disc florets at the center. Bidens triplinervia has been noted in traditional medicine in some regions of its range, where aerial parts are prepared for infusions.
