Pink Begonia semperflorens flowers with yellow stamens in sunlight
Begonia semperflorens (Wax Begonia)

Begonia semperflorens graces gardens with a continuous bloom, living up to its Latin name which translates to 'ever blooming'. Originating from a hybridization it is probably the most grown Begonia worldwide. Wax begonia is a compact, bushy, mounded, fibrous-rooted plant, presenting a hearty display of fleshy stems accompanied by waxy dark green to bronze leaves. The floral charm of this species unfolds in loose clusters of single or double flowers, painting gardens with shades of white, pink, or red, and even bicolor versions thereof. Suitable for massing in beds, borders, and serving as an attractive edger. Photographed in Quindio, Colombia.
