A Beaucarnea recurvata flower cluster has small yellow blooms on spreading green branches

Beaucarnea recurvata (Ponytail Palm)

Native to Mexico, this evergreen succulent tree grows in rocky soils within seasonally dry forests. It can reach about 30 feet tall in its native habitat. A greatly swollen trunk base stores water, while narrow leaves arch and curl downward from the ends of branches. Mature plants produce large clusters of small flowers. Although commonly called a ponytail palm, it is a member of the asparagus family. Photographed in Colombia.
