Balizia elegans
Native to Central America and tropical South America, this large tree rises above the canopy of wet forests. It can reach about 148 feet tall. Finely divided compound leaves accompany white flowers whose long stamens create a brush-like display. The flowers have a slightly fruity fragrance. Flattened pods follow flowering. Its timber is used in construction and for manufactured boards. Photographed in Florida.
