Native to Argentina Northwest, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, this is a shrub in the Asteraceae family. This perennial Andean shrub ranges from Colombia and Venezuela through Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. It grows on montane slopes, in valleys, and on disturbed ground, producing terminal clusters of small flower heads followed by wind-dispersed seeds. Photographed in Puracé National Park, Colombia.
