Yellow daisy-like flower heads above hairy stems and leaves

Asteraceae (Daisy Family) (species unidentified)

This flowering shrub belongs to the daisy family, one of the largest groups of flowering plants, with members distributed worldwide. Its flower heads combine petal-like ray florets with small tubular disc florets in the center. Each head is supported by a ring of protective bracts. The tiny flowers produce dry fruits, each enclosing a single seed. Other members of the family range from herbs to trees and include food crops such as lettuce, sunflowers and artichokes. Photographed in Colombia.
