Argyranthemum frutescens (Marguerite Daisy)

Native to the Canary Islands, Spain, this evergreen subshrub grows about 2 to 3 feet tall and is widely cultivated as an ornamental. Its daisy-like heads contain many small flowers, with yellow central florets surrounded by white rays in wild plants. Garden cultivars offer additional colors and double flower forms. It flowers through much of the year in mild climates and is used as a cut flower. It tolerates coastal winds but is vulnerable to freezing temperatures. It has naturalized in southwestern Western Australia and southern South Australia. Photographed in Peru.
