Native to the Canary Islands, argyranthemum frutescens, commonly called the marguerite daisy, is a perennial subshrub that thrives in mild coastal climates. It typically grows 2–4 ft tall, producing an abundance of daisy-like flower heads in colors ranging from white and yellow to pink and deep magenta, each with a central disk of tightly packed florets. The foliage is finely divided, aromatic, and often gray-green. Valued in horticulture for its ornamental versatility, this species is widely cultivated. Flowering can occur almost year-round in frost-free regions. It has been used in hybridization programs to produce new ornamental cultivars with varied petal colors, forms, and enhanced heat or cold tolerance. Photographed in Peru.
