Areca triandra (Wild Areca Palm)


This small clumping palm is native from northeastern India and Bangladesh through mainland Southeast Asia to Sumatra, Borneo, and the Philippines. Several slender green stems rise together, and branched inflorescences emerge below the crownshaft. Its oval fruits mature from green to orange or red. Photographed in MedellĂ­n, Colombia.
