Arachnothryx euryphylla

Native to Colombia, this is a tree in the Rubiaceae family. It may grow as a shrub and primarily inhabits wet montane forests. The plant is characterized by its distinctive inflorescences, which consist of dense, rounded clusters of small pink to reddish-pink flowers. Each flower is salverform, featuring a long, narrow corolla tube that expands into four spreading, rounded lobes at the apex. The exterior of these tubes and the supporting stems are covered in a dense, velvety layer of fine reddish or brownish hairs, a trait that distinguishes it from many other regional flora.
