Native to Mexico and Central America. It can be invasive and has naturalized in Colombia and is common near the Caribbean coast of Colombia with a habitat below 5,000 feet. The flowers are normally bright pink and occasionally red or white and always in bloom. Photographed in the department of Atlántico, Colombia
