Anthurium veitchii (King Anthurium)
Native to Colombia, including Chocó and Antioquia, this perennial herb grows as an epiphyte in wet tropical forests. Its long, hanging leaves have a deeply corrugated surface, giving the foliage a distinctive pleated appearance. The flowering structure has a dull pale green spathe beside a white to cream-colored spadix covered with many tiny flowers. The species is cultivated in botanical collections chiefly for its dramatic foliage. Photographed in Colombia.
