Anemopaegma chrysanthum
Native from southern Mexico to Peru, this plant is a woody climbing vine of humid tropical and foothill forests. Its compound leaves have two large, glossy leaflets and a three-branched tendril that helps it climb surrounding vegetation. Clusters of bright yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers emerge from the leaf axils. The flowers are about two to three inches long, with spreading lobes and a nectar-producing disk at the base. Its broad, flattened seed capsules contain thin seeds with papery wings. Photographed in Colombia.
