Close-up of two open anemone decapetala flowers with white elongated petals and greenish-yellow centers, surrounded by finely divided green foliage
Anemone Decapetala

Native to Peru, Chile and Argentina, the plant grows from a rhizomatous root system that enables it to spread and form colonies over time. It blooms mainly in spring and early summer, producing flowers about 2 inches across, each with multiple narrow white tepals surrounding a prominent central cluster of green carpels that gradually elongate into a cone-like fruiting head. Photographed in Peru.
