An Androlepis bromeliad bears a long upright cluster of small white flowers above overlapping leaves

Androlepis (species unidentified)

Native to southern Mexico and Central America, these perennial bromeliads form large leaf rosettes and may grow as epiphytes on trees. They are unusual among their close relatives because separate plants bear functionally male or female flowers. Male flowers have a small hornlike projection on each anther. The flowers develop on upright, branched stalks. Photographed in Colombia.
