x Androlaechmea 'O'Rourke'
This cultivated perennial bromeliad hybrid combines Androlepis and Aechmea ancestry. Stiff, sword-shaped leaves form a large funnel-shaped rosette and can develop deep red coloring. A branched flowering stalk produces clusters of pale berries with pink tips. It can form large clumps about 3 to 4 feet tall and is grown in tropical gardens for its foliage and flowering stalks. Photographed in Florida.
