Amazona ochrocephala (Yellow-crowned Parrot)

The Yellow-crowned Amazon is a parrot species indigenous to tropical regions of South America, Panama, and Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. The species name combines Greek words meaning "pale yellow" and "headed," reflective of its distinguishing plumage. Recognized subspecies include A. o. panamensis in west Panama and northwest Colombia, A. o. ochrocephala in east Colombia and Venezuela through the Guianas and north Brazil, A. o. xantholaema on the island of Marajó in the Amazon delta, and A. o. nattereri from south Colombia to east Peru, north Bolivia, and west Brazil​​.
