Alibertia patinoi (Borojó)

One of seven native Colombian species of the genus Alibertia with a habitat below 4,000 feet. Native to the rainy Choco region of Colombia, borojó is the number one plant aphrodisiac in Colombia. The fruit is used in juice with milk and tastes like a chocolate drink. The fruit has very high levels of amino acids (protein) and polyphenols (antioxidants). The cream-colored flowers emit a subtle fragrance. Photographed in Floridablanca, Colombia.
