Aiphanes horrida

One of twenty-two native Colombian species of the genus Aiphanes with a habitat between 400 and 5,800 feet in moist regions. The clusters of bright red and orange fruit are edible. The nut from the fruit taste likes coconuts and the pulp is also eaten. Available from food vendors along highways close to where it is cultivated. Photographed in the department of Antioquia, Colombia.
