Aglaonema hybrid
Cultivated Aglaonema hybrids are evergreen herbaceous plants derived from a genus native to shaded tropical forests of Asia and the western Pacific. Often called Chinese evergreens, they are selected for patterned foliage and compact growth. Breeders combine leaf patterns and branching traits through controlled crosses, then multiply selected plants by tissue culture. Hybrid breeding has expanded the range of leaf patterns and colors, with some varieties also selected for improved tolerance of cool temperatures. Photographed in Florida.
