This species is a shrub endemic to Colombia, where it is recorded in Boyacá, Cundinamarca, and Tolima. It grows in Andean vegetation and can reach approximately 7 to 10 feet in height. The stems carry branching clusters of numerous small flower heads rather than solitary flowers.

Each head is formed from tightly packed white tubular florets with slender, projecting styles, producing the fine-bristled appearance visible when the clusters open. Rounded unopened heads occur beside mature flowers on the same branch. The species has a notably restricted documented range compared with many other members of its genus. Photographed in Colombia.
