Ageratina ampla is a flowering shrub native to Colomiba cloud forests. It has loosely branched panicles of pink, fluffy disk florets that resemble other eupatoriinae species. The inflorescences are made up entirely of tubular flowers with no ray florets, giving a feathery appearance. The stems are reddish and often arch under the weight of the inflorescences. The leaves are opposite, broadly ovate to lanceolate, with serrated margins and a slightly rough texture. Like other Ageratina species, it contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids and is not considered edible or medicinal. Photographed in Colombia.
