Agastache Blackadder has small purple flowers opening along a dense upright spike with dark calyces

Agastache 'Blackadder'

A garden hybrid of Agastache rugosa and Agastache foeniculum, this perennial herb forms a bushy clump about 2 to 3 feet tall. Aromatic, toothed leaves accompany upright spikes of violet-purple to dark blue flowers. Small tubular, two-lipped blooms open among very dark calyces, creating a bottlebrush-like appearance. Flowering extends from summer into autumn. The cultivar is sterile, so its named form is maintained through vegetative propagation. Its flowers attract bees. Photographed in Florida.
