Aechmea rubens

Aechmea rubens is a striking bromeliad species native to eastern Brazil, primarily found in the Atlantic Forest biome. Its inflorescence is characterized by a dense, upright cluster of bright red to orange bracts, which surround the shorter flower stalk. The flowers are short-lived but emerge sequentially from within the colorful bracts, sometimes showing hints of yellow or blue depending on the stage of development. Photographed in Florida.
