Aechmea nudicaulis

Native to northeastern Brazil, northern Brazil, southeastern Brazil, southern Brazil, Colombia, and Costa Rica and nearby regions, this is a bromeliad in the Bromeliaceae family. This bromeliad species thrives in lowland rainforest habitats of northern South America. Aechmea chantinii is distinguished by its upright growth habit and the presence of stiff, spiny-edged leaves that form a tank or reservoir at the base. These leaf rosettes serve to capture rainwater and organic matter, providing microhabitats for various organisms. The inflorescence is branched and typically displays vivid orange or red bracts that contrast with bright yellow flowers. This species is adapted to high humidity and filtered light.
