Aechmea miniata is a tropical bromeliad native to the rainforests of Brazil, particularly thriving in the Atlantic coastal forests where humidity is high and light is filtered. This species is epiphytic, commonly found attached to trees, where it takes in moisture and nutrients from the air rather than from the soil. The plant is known for its striking flower spikes, which emerge in brilliant shades of red or pink and are topped with small, colorful blue or violet flowers. The plant produces offsets, or "pups," at its base, which can be propagated to grow new plants. Photographed in Florida.
