Aechmea haltonii
Endemic to Panama, Aechmea haltonii is a rarely seen bromeliad known for its upright, branching inflorescence composed of hundreds of tightly packed yellow-green flowers atop deep reddish floral stalks. It belongs to the subgenus Pothuava and is typically found in humid lowland tropical forests. Its long, spiny-margined leaves form a tight central tank capable of collecting rainwater. This species is cultivated occasionally by bromeliad enthusiasts but remains uncommon in the horticultural trade. It is valued for its prolific blooming and unusual color contrast between the inflorescence and the foliage. Photographed in Florida.
