Aechmea angustifolia

Native to Central and South America, this bromeliad grows as an epiphyte in wet tropical forest. Its narrow flower-bearing branches carry closely arranged yellow to orange floral structures, accompanied by conspicuous red bracts. The inflorescence rises from a rosette of arching leaves. In Colombia, the species is recorded from lowland forests to about 4,900 feet, including the Amazonian and Pacific regions. Photographed in Colombia.
