Acriopsis floribunda
Native to the Philippines, including Bucas Grande and Sorsogon, this small epiphytic orchid grows on tree trunks. It develops swollen stem structures called pseudobulbs, while fine, upward-growing roots trap fallen plant debris. In late spring, an upright flower stalk branches repeatedly and may carry two hundred to two hundred fifty small flowers. The entire inflorescence can extend about two to four feet. Photographed in Florida.
