Cream-white and pale yellow Palicourea punicea flowers emerge from a compact cluster on red stalks

Palicourea punicea

Native to Peru, Bolivia, and northern Brazil, this shrub or tree grows in wet tropical forest habitats. The clustered flowers combine pale cream to yellow tubes with prominent reddish supporting structures. Birds eat its fruits and carry the seeds away from the parent plant, helping it spread through the forest. Photographed in Colombia.
