Monticalia corymbosa

Native to Colombia, this Andean shrub occurs in highland vegetation including subpáramo scrub. In Boyacá, Colombia, it grows at elevations above 10,000 feet. Clusters of golden yellow flower heads form at the tips of woody branches. Numerous projecting tubular florets give the heads a brush-like appearance. The species belongs to the daisy family, Asteraceae. Photographed in Colombia.
