Libidibia punctata

Libidibia punctata is a deciduous tree native to Colombia and Venezuela. It is characteristic of the seasonally dry forests of Colombia’s Caribbean region. Its spreading crown carries clusters of five-petaled yellow flowers, with red markings on the central petal and ten projecting stamens. The smooth trunk develops a distinctive patchwork of pale gray, green, and whitish areas as its bark sheds. Mature trees can reach about sixty-five feet or more. Photographed in Atlantico, Colombia.
