Tillandsia izabalensis pale yellow tubular flower emerging from green overlapping bracts

Tillandsia izabalensis

Native from Belize and Guatemala through Honduras and Nicaragua to the southwestern Caribbean, Tillandsia izabalensis is an epiphytic bromeliad of wet tropical forest. Long narrow leaves form an open rosette around a central flowering stem. Pale yellow-green bracts surround slender cream to yellow tubular flowers. The plant anchors to branches rather than rooting in soil. Photographed in Florida.
