Spermacoce prostrata

A low tropical American herb, Spermacoce prostrata spreads across open ground and disturbed habitats with branching stems. Tiny white four-lobed flowers gather in compact clusters at the leaf nodes. Opposite narrow leaves line the prostrate to ascending stems, and small dry fruits develop within the persistent flower clusters. Photographed in Colombia.
