Prunus cerasoides drooping clusters of pink five petaled blossoms along leafy branches

Prunus cerasoides

Prunus cerasoides is a deciduous tree native from the Himalayas to southern China and mainland Southeast Asia. Pink flowers open in clusters along mostly bare branches before or as the new leaves emerge. Each blossom has five petals surrounding numerous stamens, and later develops into a small stone fruit. The tree grows in temperate to subtropical mountain forest and is widely planted for its seasonal floral display. Photographed in Florida.
