Pandanus utilis


Pandanus utilis is a wet-tropical tree native to Mauritius, Réunion, and Rodrigues in the Mascarene Islands. It develops a branching trunk supported by prop roots and carries long leaves in dense spirals at the ends of its branches. The species produces large compound fruits assembled from many individual sections and has been introduced to tropical regions beyond its native islands as an ornamental and fiber plant.
