Deuterocohnia meziana

Deuterocohnia meziana is native to Bolivia, where it thrives on rocky outcrops and slopes at elevations often exceeding 8,000 feet. This species belongs to a group of terrestrial bromeliads adapted to harsh, arid environments, displaying thick, spiny rosettes that help conserve water. Its flower spikes bear elongated tubular blooms in vivid shades of orange and yellow. Photographed in Florida.
