Tall arching flower plumes of Cortaderia nitida with cascading silvery seed heads against a background of green and reddish foliage
Cortaderia nitida

Cortaderia nitida is a perennial grass native to the high Andes of South America, where it grows at elevations between 6,500 and 13,000 feet. This species produces tall arching plumes with cascading silvery panicles that can reach several feet in length, giving the plant a distinctive weeping appearance compared to the more upright form of other pampas grasses. Photographed in Ecuador.
