Cornutia pyramidata
Cornutia pyramidata is a tree native to the Caribbean, Central America, and parts of northern South America. It is known for its striking inflorescences, which are dense pyramidal panicles of small, tubular purple flowers that bloom in profusion and can be several inches long. The flowers are typically covered with fine hairs on the calyx and buds, giving them a fuzzy appearance before opening. This species can reach over 30 feet in height under natural conditions, with a spreading crown. Photographed in Panama.
