Cluster of Clerodendrum bungei flowers with bright pink petals and purple stamens surrounded by green leaves
Clerodendrum bungei

Clerodendrum bungei, commonly called rose glory bower, is native to China but has been introduced to various regions worldwide as an ornamental shrub. It typically grows between 6 and 10 feet tall, producing dense clusters of small, star-shaped flowers in vivid pink to magenta hues. The flowers are notable for their strong fragrance and extended blooming season, which can last from mid-summer through fall. The foliage is large, heart-shaped, and often emits a pungent odor when crushed, a distinctive trait of the species. Clerodendrum bungei is also known for its vigorous growth habit and ability to spread through underground rhizomes. In some areas it is considered invasive due to its tendency to form dense thickets. Photographed in Florida.
