Bulbophyllum amplebracteatum carunculatum

Bulbophyllum amplebracteatum carunculatum ulbophyllum carunculatum is native to Indonesia, where it grows as a small epiphyte on mossy trees in low- to mid-elevation evergreen forest. The plant forms compact clumps with a creeping rhizome and produces single, successively opening flowers from short peduncles; individual blooms are about an inch across and are carried close to the pseudobulb. The flower is notable for thick, yellow to yellow-green sepals and petals, a short tubular column, and a distinctive black, wrinkled caruncle at the tip of the column foot that gives the species its name; lateral sepals often curve and partly enfold the lip. The photographed clone ‘A-Doribil Sunset’ is a horticultural selection valued for its saturated yellow tepals set off by the dark central caruncle.
