Anthurium ochranthum is a striking aroid native to Central American and Colombia tropical rainforests. It is recognized by its tall, slender, cylindrical spadix that transitions in color from bright yellow at the base to green toward the tip, held above a long, gracefully arched spathe with pronounced parallel venation. Like many Anthurium species, it can grow terrestrially or epiphytically, often anchoring its roots in moss-laden branches or rich forest soil. The plant’s flowering cycle includes a sequence of male and female phases to promote cross-pollination. Its tall floral structures stand well above the foliage, maximizing visibility to pollinators in dense understory conditions. Photographed in Panama.
